My debut poetry collection, The Iron Bridge, will be published by Carcanet Poetry this Friday - the 28th March 2024. It has been over ten years in the making, and as I described in a Carcanet blog post, ‘I’m not good at recognising when things are done’. Luckily for me, I have a writing group who last year encouraged me to submit the manuscript to my editor, telling me it was not perfect, but good enough. Twelve months and numerous revisions later, here it is, walking out into the world, ‘Almost done’…
If you would like to buy a copy of The Iron Bridge, then below is a link to my friends and family pre-order discount. The offer ends on Thursday, so you will need to be quick (apologies for not getting this out earlier).

There’s a little more time to get the date of my online launch into your calendar. If you can join me on Wednesday 17 April, from 7 to 8pm, I’ll be reading some poems and talking about writing The Iron Bridge (and poetry more broadly) with the wonderful Sarah Hesketh. Do let me know if you would like to be added to the guest list. It would be lovely to have some Slow Train readers at the launch!
Finally, I’ll be reading in-person at Manchester’s International Anthony Burgess Centre on Tuesday 7 May, at 7pm. The award-winning writer Salena Godden will be reading from her new collection, With Love, Grief and Fury; and Christine Roseeta Walker will be reading from Coco Island, also a Carcanet debut collection. You can book tickets for this event through Blackwell’s Manchester.
